North to the backyard can be lovely orientation, as it allows large glazed areas to overlook sun filled private open space.  Everyday Life makes the most of this with living areas to the rear, and a large 3 panel double glazed stacker door opening onto an Alfresco deck.  Along with an electric horizontal awning to provide shade when required for summer outdoor dining & entertaining, this house is ideal for indoor/outdoor living.

The  rear lounge combines cosiness and space with an articulated vaulted ceiling.  And this same roof provides the perfect position and angle for the 10 kW solar voltaic system to convert sunlight to electricity, powering the house, and charging your electric car, when  you get one.  

The challenge for high performance with north-to-the-rear blocks is to get northern sunlight further back into the house.  To achieve this the central lounge has been given a cathedral ceiling allowing northern clerestory windows to bring the sunlight deep into the heart of the home.  This has the added benefit that the house opens in 3 dimensions as you come in from the entry vestibule, making the house feel bright and spacious, and welcome surprise.

Between the 2 living areas is the bedroom zone, with conveniently located bathroom. This area can be closed off from either living area with large sliding doors to both ends of the short hallway, when privacy or sound separation is required.  As you entertain in the back open living area, the children can gather in the front lounge/rumpus space for their homework or media activities, or close the sliding doors and find quiet space in their bedrooms.  

The Master bedroom with its own WIR and ensuite retains privacy through it's location off the airlock entry.  Here you can find your own peace and quiet with views of the front garden and your own vaulted ceiling, whilst being snug & well insulated from both heat and sound behind the double glazed windows.

Like all the Carbon Zero range, the house is provided with some of the most energy efficient space conditioning and hot water available, along with electric vehicle pre-wiring, ready for your EV charger when you get one.   With spaces for 2 vehicles under the carport, bike storage hooks can also be installed and customised for your need.  There is also an option to add a tilt door to the front of the carport, or to transform it into an enclosed garage.
