A block facing north to the street is usually the most difficult to achieve good solar access, especially to get sunlight deep into the house. Only If solves this problem by creating an inner eastern courtyard that not only welcomes the sun, but creates a private sanctum and focal point for the open living area, kitchen & dining.
The deliberate location of this courtyard, and the lower carport roof ensures that the back living spaces are not shaded in winter from warming sunshine, which is the key driver for heating up the polished concrete thermal slab. Detailed insulation and high performance double-glazed windows help keep this heat inside the house, bringing comfort, peace, and quiet to the occupants, without the high bills.
Looking across the courtyard you are also provided with connection to the front living area. This front space is perfect as a home office or study, kids rumpus or guest bedroom. And the connection via the large deck makes this a perfect entertaining area.

A generous open kitchen with walk in pantry, with floor to ceiling storage sits in the heart of the house with views to all living areas. Behind the dining, tucked in discretely is the full bathroom and hall to the bedroom zone. As with all our designs in our Zero Carbon series, the Master bedroom gets its own sanctuary with WIR and ensuite.
The streamlined laundry can be found next to the kitchen with access to clothesline behind, without the need to drag any wet laundry through the house. Having all the wet areas close to each other also means that you save water and energy by keeping the hot water runs short.
A 7k litre water tank catches all the rain from your roof, plumbed to flush your toilets & to the supply the cold tap in the laundry and garden. This saves around 35% of your daily water usage. In addition, our Zero Carbon range includes minimum 4 stars WELS rated showers & tapware, and a 5 star washing machine, to help further reduce water wastage.
